Baby orangutans and elephants on the big screen are capturing much attention across the state of Indiana! IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures are pleased to announce that the soon-to-be-released film Born to be Wild 3D has received Heartland’s Truly Moving Picture Award (TMPA). The film follows young orphaned elephants and orangutans on the trip of a lifetime, from birth to their rebirth into the wild. Showing on the state’s largest movie screen, Born to be Wild 3D opens on April 8 exclusively at the IMAX Theater at the Indiana State Museum in downtown Indianapolis. The TMPA honors theatrically released motion pictures that promote positive change in people’s lives through the transformative power of film.
“We are incredibly honored by this award for a film that is absolutely life-changing!” said Craig Mince, theater manager of the Downtown IMAX. “There is definitely a message of hope and positivity for these amazing creatures.”
“Heartland is proud to honor Born to Be Wild for its inspiring and beautiful look at the work being done with orphaned animals and the positive change two determined people can have in the world,” said Jeffrey L. Sparks, president and CEO of Heartland Truly Moving Pictures.
Narrated by Academy-Award® winner Morgan Freeman, Born to be Wild 3D is an inspiring story of love, dedication and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. Stunningly captured in IMAX 3D, Born to be Wild 3D is a heartwarming adventure transporting moviegoers into the lush rainforests of Borneo with world-renowned primatologist Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, and across the rugged Kenyan savannah with celebrated elephant authority Dame Daphne M. Sheldrick.
Because of its message of conservation, the Indianapolis Zoo is partnering with the neighboring IMAX Theater to motivate moviegoers to take action. “The zoo’s mission is to empower people in advancing animal conservation,” said Dr. Rob Shumaker, vice president for life sciences at the Indianapolis Zoo. “We thank the Downtown IMAX Theater for joining the zoo in supporting conservation efforts and for bringing this film to our city and state.”
