Join us on Friday, August 31st from 8-10 p.m. at FLAT12 Bierwerks for An After Hours Short Short Film Festival, presented in collaboration with The Onion / A.V. Club as a fundraiser for Heartland Truly Moving Pictures. This will be your chance to sample beer, pick up a copy of The Onion and talk movies–so it’s bound to be a seriously fun evening.
Here is the line-up:
The First Anders (9 minutes; 2011 Heartland Film Festival Award Winner) – A well-meaning, but ultimately accidental father tries to teach his artistic and troubled young son a valuable lesson. This story spans over one thousand years of Danish history and countless generations of the family Andersen.
A Finger, Two Dots Then Me (8 minutes; 2011 Heartland Film Festival Award Winner) – A spoken-word piece based on a popular poem by renowned modern poet Derrick Brown. The film takes a dramatic look at death, life and love through the eyes of Brown.
Abuelas (9 minutes; 2011 Heartland Film Festival Award Winner) – In a small apartment in Buenos Aires, an old woman eagerly awaits the birth of her grandchild and all the joys of becoming a grandmother. However, horrific circumstances mean that she will be forced to wait for over 30 years.
The Archive (8 minutes; 2009 Official Selection) – True dedication is evident in the form of Paul Mawhinney who has given his entire life to amassing what has become the world’s largest record collection. Paul has over a million albums in his possession, including the world’s first flat record made in 1881. Due to health issues and a struggling record industry, Paul is being forced to sell his most prized collection.
