Belle is not like most of the young women in her town, more interested in books and learning than finding a husband. Nonetheless, she is pursued by the handsome Gaston, as arrogant as he is popular. In the mountains above the village there stands a mysterious castle, wherein lives The Beast, a creature to be avoided. When the Beast kidnaps Belle’s father, she is distraught, offering to trade her own freedom for her father’s release.
