the heartland film institute

The Heartland Film Institute offers year-round programming to educate aspiring filmmakers in the art and craft of creating films that celebrate the best of the human spirit. Once a one-day seminar during the annual Heartland Film Festival, the Institute has evolved into a well-attended program held four times a year.

Through the Institute, Heartland conducts workshops and symposia to high school and college students and the general public, offering opportunities to explore all aspects of filmmaking in-depth. The Institute provides the necessary tools and resources for filmmakers to improve their craft as well as networking opportunities with industry professionals and aspiring filmmakers at all levels.

Heartland Film Institute full-day seminars are held in Indianapolis at the IUPUI Campus Center throughout the year. In addition, an extended seminar is held each year at the Heartland Film Festival.
