The mission of Heartland Truly Moving Pictures is to inspire filmmakers and audiences through the transformative power of film. Beyond the 10-day Heartland Film Festival, we show inspiring, educating and engaging films around the Central Indiana community, all year long. Join us at an upcoming screening:

June 2013

The Postsecondary Counseling Institute, designed for school counselors, mentoring organizations and youth workers, will be held June 18-19, in Indianapolis.  This year’s event includes a screening of the Heartland Film Festival documentary First Generation.

First Generation tells the story of four low-income students – an inner city athlete, a small town waitress, a Samoan warrior dancer and the daughter of migrant field workers – who set out to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope to their families and communities by pursuing a college education.

    Director T.C. Johnstone will visit Wabash and introduce his film for the screening.  He will also be available to answer questions following the film. 2012 Heartland Film Festival Grand Prize Winner for Best Documentary Feature.

The 2013 Charley Creek Artsfest is scheduled for June 26-30, 2013 in various locations in beautiful Wabash. Independent films, live performances, a Gallery Walk, the WaBass Concert, Fine Art Show & Sale and  Ms.Sylvia McNair will perform with Kevin Cole.

July 2013

Having turned 60, Adela is living a life she never wanted. She has no children, a husband who walks all over her and, worst of all, nothing to look forward to. Then one day she has the chance to win 300,000 euros and leave her old life behind. All she has to do to get it is kick a ball into an open goal from the halfway line at half-time in a Spanish league match.

“Friend Request Pending” is a short comedy drama about the mature generation dating in our modern social networking world. It tells the story of Mary and Linda who spend an afternoon discussing the pleasures, pitfalls and problems with using social networking to try and woo the local choirmaster, Trevor.

One evening Lena comes home to find a message from her beloved Tim that today he will come home later than expected. In the letter he also says that there is a present for her in the wardrobe, but he asks her not to open it until he gets home. Will Lena be able to withstand the temptation?
