At the age of 19, Sultan Sharrief produced an MTV Movie Award-nominated film called The Spiral Project. Later, as a University of Michigan alumnus, he started a community-based youth filmmaking program in Detroit supported by the National Center for Institutional Diversity. Directing this distinctive educational program and numerous other filmmaking projects led to Sharrief’s unique development of the 16mm feature film Bilal’s Stand, which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
