New Award Categories Announced for 2013 Heartland Film Festival

The 22nd Annual Heartland Film Festival will be held in Indianapolis, Ind., October 17-26, 2013. Filmmakers participating in the Festival attend numerous screenings of their films and other special events designed to allow interaction between filmmakers and audiences. The Festival will officially open its Call for Entries period beginning March 1. Submissions will be accepted through June 14.

Jackie Robinson Biopic 42 Honored with Truly Moving Picture Award

Heartland Truly Moving Pictures has bestowed its first Truly Moving Picture Award (TMPA) of 2013 to Warner Bros. Pictures’/Legendary Pictures’ release “42”, the true story of baseball legend Jackie Robinson and Brooklyn Dodgers GM Branch Rickey’s fight against injustice in the world of professional baseball.

Heartland Announces Top 10 List of Truly Moving Picture Award Winners

Heartland Truly Moving Pictures has released its Top 10 list of Truly Moving Picture Award-winning films of 2012. “Lincoln,” director Steven Spielberg’s record seventh film to receive the Award, took the top spot. “Les Misérables” and “The Intouchables,” from Universal Pictures and The Weinstein Company respectively, followed closely behind. “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” and “Moonrise Kingdom” round out the list of top films that inspire, educate and engage audiences of all ages.

Heartland Roadshow Community Film Series Finds Success in Inaugural Year

Heartland Truly Moving Pictures connected 7,700 moviegoers to inspiring films in 2012 through community screenings separate from the Annual Heartland Film Festival. Best known for the Heartland Film Festival, nonprofit arts organization Heartland Truly Moving Pictures is active year-round with programs such as the Heartland Roadshow. With its mission to inspire filmmakers and audiences through the transformative power of film, Heartland showcases both independent films from the Heartland Film Festival along with studio-released films that have won the Truly Moving Picture Award.

Heartland Roadshow Movie Screening at The Orchard School to Support “My Sandy Hook Family Fund”

Local nonprofit arts organization Heartland Truly Moving Pictures invites community members to attend a fundraiser at The Orchard School on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to “My Sandy Hook Family Fund,” a relief fund established to support the 26 families who lost children and family members in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn.
