After its North American premiere at the 2008 Heartland Film Festival, Miramax Films’ The Boy in the Striped Pajamas comes to theaters today. The movie is getting great reviews, and critics and advance audiences agree that this is a film you must see. A few choice words:
This beautifully rendered family film is told in a classic and old-fashioned style, in the best sense, providing poignant and powerful teachable moments. -Claudia Puig, USA Today (3 1/2 stars)
…the power of the story and the performances — young Butterfield amazes — is indisputable. -Peter Travers, Rolling Stone (3 stars)
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is not only about Germany during the war, although the story it tells is heartbreaking in more than one way. It is about a value system that survives like a virus. -Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times (3 1/2 stars)
I want as many people to see The Boy in the Striped Pajamas as humanly possible. -Rex Reed, The New York Observer
