An unprecedented number of filmmakers will be attending the 2009 Heartland Film Festival!  

This year around 100 filmmakers are scheduled to attend the Heartland Film Festival! A wide array of directors, producers, writers and stars will be at various events, including Q&A sessions after their films and the Crystal Heart Awards ceremony. Many will also be at both the Filmmakers’ Brunch on Sunday, October 18, and the Heartland Film Institute Seminar on Monday, October 19.

Crystal Heart Award-winning dramatic features scheduled:

- Renè Bo Hansen (director) of The Eagle Hunter’s Son

- Gloria La Morte (co-director and writer) and Paola Mendoza (co-director, writer, and star) of Entre Nos

- Zvi Spielmann (producer) of For My Father

- Omri Givon (director and writer) and Eldad Prives (star) of Seven Minutes in Heaven

- Philippe Lioret (director) of Welcome

Crystal Heart Award-winning documentary features scheduled:

- Hilla Medalia (director) and James Lecesne (producer and featured individual) of After the Storm

- Dag Hoel (producer), Håvard Bustnes (director) and Ole Klemetsen (featured individual) of Big John

- Gabriel Noble (director), Priscilla (P-Star) Diaz and Jesse Diaz (featured individuals) of P-Star Rising

- Debra Zimmerman (executive producer) and Sdudla Sibiya (featured individual) of Rough Aunties

- Greg Barker (producer/director) of Sergio

In addition, many of the stars, directors, writers and producers of  the short films and Official Selections are scheduled to attend, including Dean Yamada, director of Bicycle (Jitensha), Gregg Helvey, producer/director/writer of Kavi, and Ryan Ochoa, star of The Perfect Game.

There will also be a special appearance by Don Hahn, producer/director of Waking Sleeping Beauty and producer of Disney classics like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. He will be answering questions following the screening of Waking Sleeping Beauty.

Michel Orion Scott, director of The Horse Boy, is scheduled to attend the Closing Night Event, following the screening of his film with a Q&A session afterward.

Actor Doug Jones, star of My Name is Jerry, is also scheduled to attend. He has previously starred as The Silver Surfer in 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Abe Sapien in Hellboy and Hellyboy 2: The Golden Army, and Fauno/Pale Man in Pan’s Labyrinth.

Irene Taylor Brodsky, who won a Crystal Heart Award in 2007 for her documentary feature Hear and Now,  is scheduled to attend for her new film, the Oscar-nominated documentary short The Final Inch.

Bobby Downes and Kevin Downes, producers of Like Dandelion Dust, are also scheduled to attend. Like Dandelion Dust, a Dramatic Feature Official Selection, stars Mira Sorvino and Barry Pepper.
