Heartland Truly Moving Pictures

Based on the perennial best seller, a lonely young girl adopts an orphaned dog, Winn-Dixie (named after the supermarket where she found him), who helps her makes friends in a small Florida town. The bond established between the girl and her special companion brings together the townspeople and helps heal her own troubled relationship with her father.

Many films say they are perfect for both kids and adults, but few fit the bill quite as well as Because of Winn-Dixie. Unique in many facets, Winn-Dixie is more than just a book and film about a little girl and a dog. It's about a child who is growing up in a flawed world, a world where people go to jail, struggle with alcohol, leave their families, lose people they love, and put up walls to protect themselves. However, in this story, Opal inspires her audience to look these problems in the face and learn from them, finding strength in tolerance, hope and renewal.
